Maybe....just maybe...Jermey Smith isnt an NHL level back up and elite talent can dominate him.

Just a hot take

I was at the game last night, a few things I noticed...

1. They team played very well and should have won the game. Jeremy Smith couldn't stop a (franking) beachball to save his life. If Picks was playing, we win that game. Oilers had to nudge it on goal to score

2. Compher is going to be a solid player in this league.

3. Lindholm is a reliable defenseman, makes a few mistakes every now and again but moves traffic out of the way and is good positionally.

4. I don't know how Colborne got 2 assists last night, he seems to be afraid of the opposing players and touching the puck.

5. Barberio needs to be on this roster next year. If we have to buy out Beauchemin to protect him, so be it.

6. The line of Andrighetto Mackinnon and Rantanen was flying all over the place and was by far the best line out there the whole night.

Indeed he did. I actually felt rather guilty about my post by the end of the game.

1. Agree 2/3. Agree so far. They will have problems but a very encouraging start for both. 4. 5points in 2 of his games... I hope compher helps get him going... increase trade value for next year. 5. Agreeli only if he istarts playing 3rd pair. Top 4 I think stretches his effective limits. But is a good player to have when ej drops out as normal.6. If they continue to produce it's our 1st line next year.

He never was going to be. Ultimately the goal is to have a farm system full of your own drafted and developed players.

Martin will be the SA Starter, hopefully they can either sign a undrafted CHL or NCAA goalie free agent or are able to bring back Aittokallio or sign ELCS for Adam Werner/Maximilian Pajpach to come over.

Next year the D Core and goalies in San Antonio could all be Avs Draft picks (not pairings showing just listing off guys)

Siemens Mironov
Lindholm Boikov
Bigras Meloche
Geertsen Butcher

Bolded guys are question marks to sign however I wouldnt doubt if they do

Even if 1 or 2 of them are playing with the Avs next year, thats still 3 pairings of Avs drafted players down on the farm. Kyle Wood would have been nice to add to that depth but based on what is showing, I wont lose sleep over missing him

that he is, hes going to be a special one to watch in the next couple years. As long as he doesnt have any development hick ups, I wouldn't be shocked to see him with the Avs in 2 seasons

Its not a bad trade idea but really feels like a lateral move on the current roster. Upgrade in G downgrade in FWD for Upgrade in FWD for downgrade in G.

But long term move....Zajac and Schneider are both 31. Duchene is 26 and Varly is 28. Avs take a beating there

All things considered not a good move for the Avs when they are going to be building around their 21 year old kids. So ideally they need to be trying to get 24-25 year old guys so when their Young guys in Zads, MacK, Rants, Compher, Jost, are hitting their primes or entering them... they are surrounded by guys that will be in their primes too not exiting them at 33-34

Thats why I would not be shocked to see the Avs trade both Duchene and Barrie this year (both are 25-26) for guys who are 21-22 years old. Get the right pieces to grow with the new young guys...

Would you do Dutch and Barrie for Horvat, Hutton, Boeser? Not saying thats an actual trade idea or proposal but I wouldnt be shocked to see them try to pull something like that off. Trade 2 good young guys for a collection of good younger guys for a team that might want to win now

That's d depth isn't bad. Still lots of '?' Around whether Siemens gets signed or not. But it's shows that they are drafting now developing which is the key. Bigras IMO will be the first call up next year. With Lindholm close behind him

Forward depth is slowly coming along. A top line consisting of Greer-Beaudin will be intersting to see along with nantel continuing his growth. I would like them to sign Gustav Olhaver. He's played well this past year.

Personally I feel that a lot of what the avs do will first depend on draft position. If we get 1 or 2 OA I feel that I 9 trade will happen for a defense men plus what ever else. I won't be shocked if 4 is moved, what would get for him will be intersting. Top 6 winger plus... IMO and if the move 92 I can see more top end prospects and/or damn good third liners

It's an interesting theory. Might limit tradingredients partners because of cap. I would except more than those 3 though

Love Duchene to bits, but his durability is questionable and Barrie would be a great addition because of his offensive prowess, but unfortunately the canucks will be only looking to aquire players below the age of 24. Once Burrows and hansen were traded the message became clear.

also, I think any trade that can get you schneider is a win. He might be a bit older but he can carry a team while facing 40 shots a night. I think thats one of the departments that Avs lack stability at the back. As good as Varly is, he is very inconsistent.
Zajac does bring some good playmaking and has proven to play well with good wingers. Ex. Kovy and Parise.
